TRT for men (Testosterone Replacement Therapy) is a hormone therapy used to regulate testosterone levels for men by administering bioidentical hormones into the body. At Elite Health HRT, we also include two extra medications – gonadorelin and anastrozole – with TRT treatments. These ensure your body continues to produce its own hormones and regulates estrogen. This is important because an increase in testosterone will cause an enzyme called aromatase to convert some of the testosterone into estrogen. These additional medications are prescribed to mitigate symptoms of high estrogen in men (like mood swings, gynecomastia, and loss of libido).
For maximum effectiveness, Elite Health HRT only provides hormone therapy treatments via intramusclar injection (IM), which are typically administered into the buttocks or hip. Time between dosages may vary, but most patients receive their treatments every 7-10 days. You may come into our clinic and we’ll administer treatment for you, or you can ask if you’re eligible for at-home treatments. In that case, you may purchase up to 4 doses (usually a month’s supply) and take them home with you.
Please avoid starting TRT without the consulting and supervision of a medical professional. We’ll examine your medical history and bloodwork to make sure you’re healthy enough before starting TRT. It’s also very important to receive your treatments in a timely manner every 7-10 days to ensure maximum benefit and to minimize any side effects.
Also, it’s very important for men to take their accompanying aromatase inhibitors when prescribed to regulate estrogen levels. When estrogen levels are too high in men, it can lead to multiple side effects, including gynecomastia (breast tissue growth), erectile dysfunction, reduced libido, difficulty sleeping, mood swings, and increased risk of blood clots. It can also lead to weight gain, fatigue, and hot flashes. Elevated estrogen levels in men can also lead to an increase in body fat, especially around the abdomen.
